Barcelona Hotels and Accommodation

(Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain)

Just a short journey from the border of France, Barcelona is amongst the most stylish and cosmopolitan of all the Spanish cities, and its hotels certainly match this image. Accommodation in Barcelona has never been more plentiful, with in excess of 800 hotels on offer at present.

However, despite this wealth of lodging and rooms, busy trade fairs and seasonal Spanish celebrations can cause Barcelona's hotels to soon become full, particularly in the city centre. With accommodation often targeting the lucrative businessman market, many hotels lower their rates during the weekends and offer discounts at this time.

For the cheapest accommodation that you are likely to find in Barcelona, look within the neighbourhoods of El Raval and Barri Gotic. Further fairly reasonably priced hotels and budget pensions (private guest houses) await in L'Eixample as well. Boutique-style hotels are also to be found in these parts of Barcelona, together with the La Ribera neighbourhood, being within easy reach of the historical Old Town.

If your budget is limited and hotels are really outside of your price bracket, then camping may be the answer. A number of huge camping sites lie on the south-westerly outskirts of Barcelona and around Castelldefels, being connected by buses running from the Rambla de Catalunya and next to the Ronda de la Universitat.
